Section 2: Personality

Personality: As a young child Rand saw a classy businessman with all the money and girls in the world, he was smooth talking and everyone around him seemed to like him, and enjoy his company. The man made a lasting impression on Rand, who from that day forward tried to be just like him. Rand is a smooth talker, and it is often said that women swoon at the sight of him, and his honeyed words melt their hearts. He is extremely good at getting along with other people, and pretty much everyone who meets him leaves with a smile. As a person he is incredibly happy, not letting much phase him. He is prone to making dry witty remarks during battle though, enjoying taunting his enemy in what he sees as 'cool' banter. He loves his clan, and is also eager to flaunt his abilities to others. While he may seem carefree Rand does have a serious side, though it does not show itself often, it is usually only when he knows he is in trouble, or that someone close to him is.
Likes: Rand loves women, he loves smooth talking with them and has been known to go on dates with many girls. He has a habit of humming softly when admiring a pretty girl, a habit he does not seem aware of. He is also fond of money and luxury, and is accustomed to living in a moderately comfortable home, even after moving out. He also enjoys sparring, as he likes the friendly competition between rivals.
Dislikes/Fears: Rand dislikes actually fighting, seeing it as a waste of time, and when he is forced into a real fight he has to focus on staying alive and there are less opportunities to look cool. He also dislikes rules, and has a tendency to ignore those he feels doesn't suit him. Rand also dislikes other men imposing on the girls he is talking to, preferring to be the absolute center of attention.
Motivation: Rand doesn't see the war as anything more than a pain. He became a shinobi because that seemed like the coolest profession to have at the time, but he has no real desire to go off killing people in the name of the Rebellion. His main motivation comes from surviving until he has enough money and power to comfortably live the rest of his life in style, and if he can't pick up a pretty girl or two on the way, then he isn't Rand Hikari.


Section 3: Clan Information

Bloodline: Hikari no karada (Body of Light)
Bloodline Ability: The Hikari have the ability to use light in their jutsu as they would other elements. Unlike other advanced elements the Hikari's light release is not a combination of two basic elements, but a stand alone primary elements. Hikari may have two other elements like all other Shinobi, but Light must be their primary element. As part of the bloodline the Hikari have phosphorescent lines running beneath their skin, which they can cause to glow a pale blue light. These lines are the paths along which chakra flow, and the special chakra the Hikari possess can shine and give off light at will. This glow can light up a 20 ft area, and the light provided is enough that anyone can see easily within that radius. The Hikari are able to make specific parts of these lines glow, and can isolate the glow to specific parts of their body.

When a person is hit by any light element jutsu, they are 'marked' for one post, the area where they were struck glowing slightly. If hit by another light jutsu before the mark fades, and they are drained of 10 chakra. A target can only hold one mark at a time, and a jutsu that detonates a mark does not proc another, unless stated.
History of Clan: Truth fades into obscurity, reality lost. Obscurity fades into history, the things we record, and take for fact. History fades into legend, and those who believe are ridiculed. Legend fades to dust, and so it is with the origins of the Hikari. There is a legend, and who is ti say it is not the remnants of truth, that a millennium ago stars fell from the heavens in the creation of the world. These stars were pure, and made from light that made the sun seem dim, and dull. These lights fell over endless oceans and mountains, forests and plains. As these lights struck, they faded, dulled by the earth on which they found themselves. Over the many years, only one light remained bright, hidden deep in an ocean as deep as the stars are far. It was on a fateful evening when a lone sailor was struck by a storm, many say the storm was an omen of the many wars to come that would befall the land, but nevertheless, the storm sunk his ship to the bottom of the sea. As it sunk, he was trapped inside, kept alive by a tiny pocket of air in which he could stay. Darkness surrounded him as the boat sank further and further, until he was about to go made from the solitude and the cold. It was when he was at his lowest, that he saw a light right outside his window, he stared and was amazed, that in the pitch black depths of the ocean, something was glowing. Knowing that he was a dead man, the sailor swam from his boat towards the light, hoping to die in its warm embrace, but as he drew nearer the light pulled at him, and when he reached out to touch it the light rushed inside him, filling him to the very core of his being. He looked around to see millions of fish, each glowing with an inner light just like he was now. The fish surrounded him, and in a rush of water raced him to the surface.

Many years later he married, and he and his wife bore child. Like his father, the boy possessed an affinity for light, and glowing lines appeared under his skin to comfort him in the dark. Time passed and the family stretched into generations, each possessing the same abilities bestowed by the light unto their ancestor. Years later the family, now having taken the name Hikari, meaning light, moved into the village that now resided in the very ocean their great ancestor had found his salvation in the light. To this day they still reside there, grateful for the mercy that light bestowed upon their ancestor, and now bestows upon them. They are a light in the dark ocean floor, and are well revered by their other villagers.

Section 4: Background

Character History: Rand's first memory is of the ocean views and the creatures that inhabit it. His family home had a view of the glass dome, and through it he had spent hours upon hours watching the deep sea marine life swim around without a care in the world. As a young child he was said to be the 'easiest babe in the village', and he was told later in life that he never cried and smiled at the littlest things. He grew up an only child, his parents never decided to have any more kids, and that suited him just fine. To say he was pampered would be going too far, but he did live an easy enough life, he always had many friends and never really wanted for much. It was around this time a rich foreigner came to the village, smooth was the only word to describe him, and from that day forth Rand found an idol that he strived to be like.

To that end he decided he would join the clan's ninja school, his parents were proud of him, there hadn't been a ninja in their family for two generations, but the clan blood was strong in him and he passed the entrance test easily. He was soon a favorite amongst all the teachers and students, his charming ways earning him a fast path to genin, though that was not to say he was not skilled. He was made a genin at the age of fourteen, and was quite happy in that position. He spent his first year in a squad with two others, neither were girls but they got along just fine, doing several easy missions a month and slowly building up his savings. In his free time he chased girls, spending his idle moments smiling at them and chatting to them. He went on plenty of dates, some with girls nearly four years his senior, those his mother frowned at, but she said he was a older boy for his age. For two years he kept his head down and avoided any form of responsibility or danger, only putting himself in harms way when it seemed necessary to maintain the image he had built up of himself. Some of his friends graduated to Chuunin, but he was more than happy to sit back and take his time, he wasn't planning on going anywhere, and he was plenty happy where he was right now.
