| I had spent the past year fascinating myself in the lost art of summoning, and it was finally time for me to figure out which summoning family I would be a part of. Through all of my research, I had found out how to perform the initial summoning jutsu. I bit my thumb to draw blood, and then smacked my hand into the ground, forming the seal and omitting my chakra. A cloud of smoke appeared in front of me, and when it faded a small, barely a few inches long snake was in its place. For the few minutes I had with it, my heart was melted. I immediately felt a connection to the little guy as he nommed with his teethless gums on my finger and looked up to me with his innocent eyes. After those few minutes, he poofed away and I began preparing the next step of summoning.

| So far, my energy hadn't begun to fade as only a minuscule amount of chakra had been used up as in comparison with the rest of my body. Accordingly, it shouldn't have begun to get harder at all until one of the last uses of my training. I made the seal again, the the smoke cloud appeared once more. This time, the same snake had gotten a bit larger, maybe equaling a foot, and I could tell it recognized me. It immediately wrapped itself around my right forearm, and began lightly constricting around it. After several minutes of this, it reverse summoned one more time, and I began to prepare the next step in the training. | |

| This time, I began breathing just a bit heavier as I could feel more chakra being pulled out of my body, although it still wasn't too much as in comparison to the chakra pool I had accumulated throughout my years as a Hyuga shinobi. This time, the snake that poofed through the smoke looked completely different, as it was no longer the faint black and red, it was a pasty brown color, but I could tell it was the same snake by the way it recognized me one more time. It lifted its head up to reveal its fangs, and simply bobbed its head to the left and right for a few minutes while holding eye contact with me. I sat in front of it and stared back for the few minutes before it would poof away and I would have to begin summoning it yet again. | |

| The next stage of the training surprised me the most by a long shot. It took almost an hour to complete, and it's a good thing I had patience, or I would've given up based on how boring it was. After the snake appeared this time, it was roughly two feet long, reaching a respectable size. The problem was, however, that it was stationary, curled up, for the entire hour. It didn't bite, constrict, or even bob its head. All it did for the entire hour was lay there, appearing to be sleeping. At the end of the hour, it shot forward though, and in the place of where it had been laying. The snake shortly poofed away afterwards. I began preparing for the final step. | |

| Finally, I was at the last step. I performed the sealing jutsu for the last time, and the snake was much, much different. It was about the same length, but the size wasn't the difference. I could smell the venom, the raw but subtle power of its poison, coming from it's huge fangs protruding from its mouth. It's skin was an elegant pattern of bright red and deep black, and it shined from the torchlight of the tunnel room I was sitting in. I smiled at it, and I could've sworn it smiled back at me. Before I knew what was going on, I was reverse-summoned with it back to the land of the Toads and Snakes, the land of Lake Laogai. A huge snake of a size I couldldn't comprehend, was sitting in front of me, staring down at me with judgmental eyes. In between it and I laid a spread out, large sheet of paper, a contract. "Sssssign it." The large snake said, and I looked down to my bleeding thumb. I signed my name, and I was officially part of the snake family.
