Enjoying the Day

She cocked an eyebrow to him as he spoke about the loud white haired guy. "Oh I met him! He saw the Uchiha in the bodysuit too!" Shifting her head, she thought for a moment. "He seems like the type to just charge in without much thought. He probably would survive against me either!" she exclaimed with a grin. Finally, she clapped her hands. "And I know you use animal based jutsu..."

I nodded, the kid was a moron and wouldn't win a fight against a pile of dirt. Granted, he was probably the only person that would make that challenge to a pile of dirt in the first place. As she commented on my animal technique my mind drifted to the summoning tattoo on my wrist, hidden well by my long sleeves. "Yup, thats my gimmick. How about you though?"

She laughed as he asked about her gimmick. Like she'd actually tell him. What she could do was a key advantage she held over him. Her laughed sounded good natured, but it really wasn't. "I'm not from any clan. I haven't had any special training either! All I have is my wit and the Academy jutsu," she said, smiling brightly. "Not all of us are from shinobi families. I'm the first shinobi from mine!"

I had to give it to her that her ability to keep a straight face while lying was rather impressive, the only reason I could tell was simply that no sensei would send their student to the exams with only the skills of a fresh academy graduate. "I see, well then I wish you and your...wit...the best of luck."

She grinned as he spoke. Myeong knew he didn't believe her, but that was better than have her skills out in the open. "Thanks! I wish you and your... animal-ness-y-stuff good luck too!" she laughed as she looked about. "So, is it me, or is this place kind of boring outside of the exam?

I grinned at her first comment and nodded in agreement to the second. "Yeah there isn't to much going on here. It's nice there the way doesnt reach here for the peacefulness but the trees are just no challenge for me." I would sit up with my elbows behind me, a family of samurai citizens were walking the path now, I watched as the father and son walked hand in hand and smiled.

Myeong nodded in agreement. "Trees are really boring. They're everywhere back in Mori," she muttered, running her hand through her hair. The peaceful nature of this village didn't suit her at all. She couldn't wait for the fights in the next phase! As the family walked by the patch they were just sitting off of, Myeong's brow furrowed down into a glare for a brief second. "So, you hungry?"

I chuckled, "I'm always hungry." I'd roll onto my side and get up to my feet to dust myself off. "Wonder what they have up here, haven't had much time to look around."

Myeong stood, shifting her weight from foot to foot with a slight jumping motion. "I am too. I already staked out all the restaurants in the village. There are roughly twenty seven ones with actual buildings and fifteen or so food carts, we could probably afford to eat at all the food carts and thirteen of the restaurants"

I felt my wallet for a moment, I should be able to do fine wherever we went but I had a feeling prices may be a bit high being in the sky and all. I held my hand out, "Then lead on, lets go somewhere with steak."

Myeong rubbed her chin softly, humming as she began to walk, ignoring his held out hand. "There's a small food shop that has an outdoor eating area that's fairly priced for being up in the clouds," she said as she walked out toward the crowded streets, not caring if he followed or not. When they got to the restaurant, it was a quaint little outdoor eatery, but the smell of steak hung in the air.

I shrugged and followed along behind her, she seemed to know where she was going and my stomach was starting to growl so time is of the essence. When we arrived I sat down in the outdoor area and ordered the largest steak they had, it had been quite a while since I gorged myself like this. "So, what do you plan on doing after the exams? I hear not everyone ends up being a soldier in the war."

Myeong sat down casually on the table, both her hands hidden in her jacket. After Takoda ordered, she raised her hand, fingers showing the symbol for three. The waitress nodded, understanding to bring three of those giant steaks. As Takoda spoke, she leaned back in the chair, her feet shifting up to rest on the edge of the table. "I'll go out to the war, and if the war is over I'll take the time to get stronger before the next one starts up," she said softly. "What about you?"

I shrugged and took a moment to answer, "That all depends on what happens between now and then. Either Im gonna be a soldier or I'll be hunting someone that I lost long ago." The meat was being cooked and based on the size it may take a while so I sat there and leaned back in my chair to look at the sky again.

Myeong tilted her head, her eyes sparking with interest. "Hunting? For a person? That sounds fun!" she said energetically. She dropped her feet from the table and leaned in. "Could I help? I don't have anyone like that! But if you're willing to track them down they must be important!"

Once more I gave a shrug and answered, "I guess we can get a good look at your skills in this last leg of the exam. Do well enough and youre free to come but it's not going to be easy or fun." I looked to the sky again, a flock of birds passed by and I let out a sigh, the mood was getting rather depressing so pretty soon one of us would need to lighten it.

She giggled softly as he answered. "Well I don't have anyone worth doing stuff that isn't easy or fun for. So I'll help you!" she laughed as she looked up, catching sight of the flying birds. Her eyes narrowed for a brief moment before she jumped up in excitement. "The steaks are ready!" she practically shouted as the waitress brought two plates, one with one steak and the second with two. Myeong looked to the steaks as they were placed on the table.

The food was here at last, I took a break from being such a downer and enjoyed my lunch. "This actually looks as good as it does back at home." I stabbed the middle of the steak with my knife and took a bite out of it nearly eight inches across. My cheeks puffed out as I chewed and chuckled happily.

Myeong looked over the steaks, grinning as she pulled the plate toward her after Takoda took his steak. "Yes! They look freaking awesome!" She snatched a form and stabbed it into a steak before taking a large bite into it. In mid chew, Myeong glanced down to the third steak, then back up to Takoda with a serious grin. Hopefully, she was making it very clear that if he made a move for the final steak, he'd get to see her skills a tad earlier than the third phase.

I finished my steak and noticed another one on the table, then I noticed she almost dared me to take it. She should know better than to challenge a prideful bear for a edible prize. I knocked the table up with my knee to send the meat flying towards me, I gripped my hand into a fist so my claw swung into position to stab it for the steal.

Myeong's eyes narrowed as she saw him bump the table. She gulped down the last of her steak before raising her hands. Almost immediately, her hands flew up into a handseal. As the steak nearly reached his claws, it was snagged by extremely thin glowing threads. If they succeeded, the steak would be pulled back to her side of the table and land on a fork being held out while her other hand controlled the threads.

I kicked my feet up onto the chair and propelled myself across the table, stopping myself just in front of the girl and once again swinging my claw at the meat. "Come on now, can't be that hungry. Tiny thing like you."

Myeong jumped back, pushing the chair over onto the ground with a clatter. Her right hand flung the threads that held the stake into her fork as she held it away from Takoda's swinging claw. "Hey! You're tiny too!" she shouted, ducking under a nearby table with the steak. "Besides, I ordered this steak so it's mine!" she snapped as she popped up from the other end of the table, wagging the delicious stake before moving to take a bite as the threads vanished.

As she said that I was tiny I grunted out of annoyance and rolled to the ground to kick the chair at her arm to stop her before she could take the bite. I ran at her at full speed, my chakra starting to build up inside me as I prepared something special for this retrieval.

"Eep!" she squeaked as the chair was kicked at her. She twirled out of the way from the chair, allowing it to clatter towards another table with other guests sitting upon it. Remembering her acrobatics training, she jumped up, balancing on the pole that held up a tarp covering half of the outdoors dining area. "Nyaaa!" she shouted, holding the steak up.
